Embrace Emotional Agility: Tips from Susan David
There's an author Susan David. She has a really great book called Emotional agility. It's, it's kind of a concept of working on not getting stuck in these thought patterns and emotion cycles that go around and around and around and our brains, they suck our energy, they suck our time and they just they, they prevent us from focusing our attention on things in life that could be helping you achieve your purpose, for example. So the way to deal with that one way is to distract yourself from those emotions. And know it maybe sounds like you're avoiding them but know that you have them. Notice them, maybe label them there's there's this really great tool that I created called fuel wise and I have a card for almost every emotion out there who's really great emojis. I'll talk more about those soon. But get your permission your shelf permission to identify those emotions and just think about shutting them aside for the moment don't just brute on them and wallow. The problem is it wallowing in your negative emotions, you can kind of get addicted to that cycle of wallowing so you want to be a little bit careful about that. I love that word wallowing. It's kind of fun to say wallow. When those feelings pop back up, label them again. Maybe you see where they are on your body. Notice them give them a name, give them a color, maybe give them a character call them I have a self critical emotion that pops up in my mind and it starts informing me to say critical things to myself about myself. And I call that personality Margaret. Just because you know sounds like a good name for somebody who's super critical. And that will help me notice it label it and then be like, okay, you know, not going to I'm going to feed Margaret right now. Let's just put her over there for a little bit. Find something to distract myself. Oh, yes. And check out Susan David's emotional agility. She has all kinds of amazing tricks and tips and a really great newsletter to sign up.
