Fostering Trust: Building Stronger Relationships
Another topic: the mindset or concept of trust. Trust is so important in our everyday lives and all of the relationships that we have, even relationships where it may not seem necessary to have trust. Think about going to a restaurant. You have to trust your server. You have to trust the kitchen that they have clean operations, and you do have inspections, but on a day-to-day basis, you have to trust that your waiter isn't going to, you know, we all know those horror stories, but it is important. So how do you cultivate trust with people? You can't just go and, like, I've worked with a lot of businesses, and they're like, our core value is trust, and you can't really say that. Trust is something you have to demonstrate. The first way to do that is to be trustworthy yourself. So if you say you're going to do something, do it. Set clear expectations and plans on what you're going to do and understand what is reasonable to expect from people in different types of relationships. So, know what you can expect from others, and don't kind of set yourself up to expect more than another person can really deliver on, and that will help you set your expectations in the right place. So, expectations and living up to those expectations, setting the expectations, sometimes renegotiating expectations change. These are big topics. There is a book called "The Courage to Trust" by author Cynthia Wall, and she'll give you insider insights on building trust in your relationship with yourself and with others. Do you trust yourself is kind of a question you have to think about. I definitely trust myself. I hope you trust yourself.
