Unleashing Creativity: The Power of Process and Observation

Do you think it's possible to just decide that you're going to be creative and do something great?

It is possible.

And what happens is a lot of us get really stuck on what the final outcome will be and we think, Oh, I'm gonna sit down and paint but when I get to the end of this, two hours I have set aside I need to have the Mona Lisa like, we get really caught up in the output of our creativity.

What's more important is the process of creating, creating and how beneficial that is for your mental health.

So if you haven't done it in a while, take a moment to spark creativity. You can do that by simply noticing things. Look at shadows of objects.

We let a shadow fall on a sheet of paper and just trace the outline of the shadow. That's one thing you can do.

Look at an object that's in your periphery and make a story about it. How did the object get here? Who brought it there? There's a book called The Art of Noticing by Rob Walker, and I highly recommend that to get you on a pathway of sparking creativity.
