Finding Time to Reflect: Embracing Moments of Mindfulness in Busy Lives

Are you super busy? I thought so. I'm super busy too. But there are times when you can have a second. In the second way, you're not actively trying to make a communication, write an email, like do something. Maybe it's you're in the shower or you're chopping onions for dinner or something where you just have a moment to focus on the physical act of what you're doing. You can use that time actually to reflect, and what I mean by reflect this not as hard as you think. So it's not necessarily like just another inventory or another list in your mind. Creating time and a space to reflect, start clearing your mind and then see where it goes. Letting your mind wander and not directing it. You can control your thoughts. You can control the frequency of them, you can control the content of them. You can control the tone of them. And you can also ask them to stop for a bit. When you do stop for a second then you can let your mind wander and observe where it goes, that will give you different angles and new insights. I know it will, trust me, just give it a try. Maybe you don't believe me but it really well. There's a book called "Step Back: Bringing in the Art of Reflection into Your Busy Life" by Joseph L. Badaracco, I'm probably not pronouncing that correctly. He writes a great book on, you don't need long periods of solitude. You don't have to go off on a 10-day meditation, like let's not make it crazy. Just like take a second, like when you're doing something else. And let your mind wander. Give it a try.
